Arthur Rosebohm, 85

Arthur Rosebohm, 85, of Alanson, died Feb. 1, 2002, at his home after a long illness.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey. Pastor Walter Teske will officiate and interment will take place in the spring at Lakeview Cemetery in Harbor Springs.

Arthur was born Jan. 3, 1917, in Bellington, Minn., the son of Harm and Tillie (Wendland) Rosebohm.

As a young adult he moved to Michigan, where he married Eva (Hadix) Barkley in 1946. She preceded him in death on Jan. 30, 1979.

He married Mildred (Allerding) Armock on Dec. 29, 1979.

Mr. Rosebohm worked for Hodgkiss and Douma Corp., for 35 years and was a member of the Operating Engineers Union.

He was also a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Petoskey, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Pearl Harbor at the time of the attack on Dec. 7, 1941.

Art enjoyed cribbage and playing cards, hunting, fishing, gardening and took great joy in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Art is survived by his wife, Mildred; daughter, Billie Stoneburner and husband, Albert, and son, Arthur Rosebohm Jr., of Sault Ste. Marie; stepchildren, Kenneth (Arbutus) Barkley and Richard (Margaret) Barkley of Harbor Springs, Darlene (Lex) Potter of Warsaw, Ind., Jeanne (John) Harrison of Petoskey, Frank (Diane) Armock of Alanson, Larry (Linda) Armock of Manistique, Sandra (Dewey) Mummert of Traverse City, Cindy (Dave) Drum of Charlotte; a sister, Elsie "Toots" Kasuske, of Alanson; daughter-in-law, Dolores Barkley; 32 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren. Art was preceded in death by a stepson, Donald Barkley; sisters, Fannie Gruenhagen, Mabel Wildung, Minnie Wiklanski, Marie Bennington; brothers, John, Clarence and Alfred.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Zion Lutheran Church or to the charity of choice. Envelopes will be available at Stone Funeral Home, where friends may call 6-8 p.m. today, Monday, Feb. 4.
